StealIt

Build animations in React Native and Expo, making the decisions in the order that determines whether they feel right — should it animate, which thread it runs on, which properties, spring or timing, how the gesture hands off, how it degrades. Writes the implementation with Reanimated, Gesture Handler, Expo Router and expo-haptics. Use when animating anything in an Expo app, adding gestures, sheets, screen transitions, press feedback or haptics, or fixing motion that stutters on device. For web animation use `animate`.

Install

Run this in your project folder. It works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and dozens of other agents.

$ npx skills add emilkowalski/skills --skill animate-expo

Needs Node.js. Add -g to install for every project, or -a claude-code to skip the agent picker.

How to use Animate Expo

Once it's installed, Claude reads this skill on its own whenever a request matches what it's for, so you don't have to mention it by name. In Claude Code you can also run it directly by typing /animate-expo.

It contains no scripts, only instructions and reference files, so it can't run code on its own.

What the instructions cover

  1. 1Initial Response
  2. 2Operating Posture
  3. 3Hard Rules
  4. 4The Build Sequence
  5. 5Setup that silently breaks motion
  6. 6120fps
  7. 7Recipes
  8. 8Never Ship
  9. 9Output
  10. 10Tone
